August 2025 - Finally back on the water!

After poor weather washed out the July competition, it was good to back on the water for our August comp held Saturday 16th August.  With the July ‘wash-out’ this outing was the first for the club measuring catches by length rather than weight.  8 boats signed in, with 14 anglers testing their skills. Whilst the sun did not show up as forecast keeping temperatures cool, sea conditions were good and a total of 71 fish were caught totalling over 28 metres in length.

‘Smiling’ John Habraken won significant honours collecting 280.33 points from 14 fish at a total length of just over 5.3 metres. This included the longest flathead and runner up teraglin. Newcomer Robert ‘Bert’ Steel achieved a PB snapper of 635 mm, but old hand Jo Bujalski pipped him for the longest snapper prize with a snapper of 666mm.

Other first timers did well with James Cassidy landing 5 snapper totalling just over 1.8 metres and Anthony Flicker landing a nice mulloway of just on 700mm.  Unfortunately, like many anglers on the day, Anthony found the fishing patchy.  Ultimately, Dave Nash won the day with 14 fish measuring a total of just under 6 metres netting him the winning total of 289.88 points.
