September 2025: Perfect Weekend on the Water
It is an old fishing saying that if the sea ad wind conditions are good, the fishing will be poor.
This was absolutely disproven in the clubs recent competition held over the weekend of the 20/21st of September. Ocean conditions were near perfect. Low swell, zero seas, windless heavens and particularly on the Sunday, perfect sunny weather. Yet despite these near perfect conditions, one of the best fishing outcomes in recent times for the club resulted.
9 boats signed in, a record for recent times. 14 anglers wet their lines and delivered a colossal total of 116 fish for official recording, measuring a total length of over 53.3 metres.
Relatively new member Anthony ‘Mulloway Whisperer’ Flicker thrilled all at the Recording Table with a solid Mulloway of 855 millimetres. This is now two months in a row that Anthony has tabled a mulloway. Time now to crack the metre Anthony! Another newish member but well seasoned fisho Lex Court recorded a bag full of snapper as well as a bag full of flathead. Lex also took out the best snapper of the day measuring 640 millimetres. Bill Greene and Tim Heffernan yet again put their sleek Bar Crusher through it’s paces, excelling yet again with a catch totalling 24 fish between them. This is becoming habit for them! But is was yet again Martyn ‘Master Fisho’ Barry agnd his grandson Matthew Judd that out fished all. Martyn and Matthew tabled a total of 44 fish, with Matthew taking out both longest flathead (530mm) and teraglin (555mm) with Martyn landing runner up trag (535mm) and snapper (620mm)
