Sep 2026:  Good fishing returning.

Over the winter months, club members have found fishing offshore to be a little tricky and somewhat sporadic. Good numbers of fish had been difficult to find and more so, quality snapper have been a rare sighting. The September outing (19-20 September) has given hints that the fish may be returning, with numbers of anglers catching good numbers of fish with some absolute horses amongst them.  Additionally, conditions were near windless with a virtually non existent swell.  Made for a dream fishing weekend!

6 boats signed on for the competition, with 11 anglers contributing. 44 fish were enter in for the comp, totalling 17.52 metres in length. Fish of the day went to visitor Helen Mitchell, who landed a 790 snapper.  Decking with skipper Joe Bujalski, the boat must have been on the mark as Joe was able to find a 565 mm snapper as well.  Congratulations Helen and Joe!

‘Fisherman’ Lex Court was however the standout angler of the day, leaving a fair bit of air between himself and the second place on the weekend, with a total of 17 fish adding up to 348.4 points.  Brian page (7 fish at 147.6 points including longest flathead for the competition at 538mm) and Bill Greene (5 fish for 104 points) also and notable results from the outing.

All fish that are caught/and or released are according to DPI regulations as per club By-laws. Fish are either eaten by our members that catch them or given away to their friends and family. There is also a bag limit as to how many fish of each species can be caught. The club competitions also incorporate the option to practice catch and release.
